Design Roots Snail Mail Contest
Posted by Brenna Malmberg
Leafy swirls among the bright green grass blades.
Yesterday I dropped this little silver envelope into the mailbox. It along with handfuls of other creative envelopes from around the world are headed to Design Roots headquarters in Texas for Design Roots' second annual mail swap and envelope contest. Honestly, I don't even need a contest to make fun, creative mail, but I couldn't help but send in an entry.
I remember seeing the 2014 entries and being in awe. I mean seriously, stitched mail, that's impressive. While paper and gel pens rank low on the awe scale, I wanted to enter anyway because I am a super fan of Design Roots. A "Let's Be Adventurers" print hangs on my office wall, and I hooked my Grandma up with a calligraphy kit for Christmas. If you are ever looking for calligraphy supplies, art or stamps, its the place ... unless you want to work with me, which if that's the case, pick me! pick me! I'd love to work with you. I support all creatives though, so I won't judge.
If the envelope art contest piques your interest, you can enter, too! But hurry, you need to have the envelope there by April 24. It's pretty simple. Decorate an envelope and send it to:

You can read the blog if you have any more questions. Other than that, I just have a handful of spring-filled envelope photos. Happy weekend!
The gel pens dried vibrant and iridescent.
A little whale card is tucked into the swirly envelope.
I used a white gel pen for the words and a silver gel pen for the leafy swirls.
I am so glad the grass is back. :)
Happy spring, and best of luck to my envelope design.
