Brighten up your desktop with this February 2015 calendar.
With all this dreary weather, I'm loving my new desktop background. Bright flowers remind me that winter won't last forever. If share my sentiments, you can enjoy them with me for free. Find links at the bottom to download the phone and/or desktop wallpaper for all your devices.
I'm quite proud of this background because I personally drew the different petals. After browsing Pinterest for flower images, I keyed in on some that looked in my skill range. Next, I sketched some flowers, leaves and stems with a pencil. After I was happy with my draft, I traced the lines with a felt-tip pen. I really need to invest in a nice one, but because it's one of many art supplies I find myself desiring, I waited overnight to eraser all my pencil marks to ensure I didn't smudge my hard work. This left me with simple line art to scan into my computer. Note: If you scan, go for lots of dots per inch. I used 600 dpi on this one. Now in the digital realm, I used Photoshop and Illustrator to convert the file and fill in the different colors.
My pencil sketch becomes colorful, digital flowers.
Let the love last as long as you want with this phone background.
It's no surprise that I would design purple-themed graphics, but this combination also worked for a bridal shower. The beautiful Mrs.-to-be from this save the date will be honored later in March, and I designed invites for the party. (I'll show you those at a later date.)
The flowers were a fun challenge, and I couldn't wait to use them on my devices. They also make for great Valentine's Day graphics; I'm not a pinky, frilly heart-lover. On the phone download, you'll also find a Bible verse: Love comes form God. - 1 John 4:7. In the spirit of love, I found that a fitting reminder for each time I swiped open my phone.
And like promised, the freebies! You can download the desktop background here and the phone background here. (Once you have one open, right click and "Save Image As … " wherever you would like.)
