Spring Break 2015: Cruisin' to the Bahamas

From the Nassau dock, the Carnival Sensation looks huge.
Welcome to the 2015 Malmberg Spring Break. I have so many pictures that I have to divide the trip into three blogs: Cruisin', Disney World and Charleston. I'm starting my posts from the beginning, so pack your bags and board the Carnival Sensation with us.
Our four-day cruise departed from Fort Canaveral, Florida. We happily left snowy Virginia and drove down to the port. This was our second cruise, so I don't have many boat photos. You can see pictures from the first cruise over on Facebook. These cruise photos focus on the island days. But before I just straight to the sunny Bahamas, which lets be real everyone would rather just skip to that, here's a deck photo and our cute towel animals.
It must be time to visit the Bahamas because no one is sunning on the deck.
We had a window in our room on this cruise, only we mostly saw just water from it.
Each night after dinner, we looked forward to our towel animal. The first night: a dinosaur. Perhaps they saw my T-Rex sweatshirt.
What a cute little elephant.
A close version of his cute little face.
At first, I thought this as a dog, but now I think it's a pig.
Our boat first docked in Freeport on the Grand Bahama island. (Click here to see where that is on the map.) We booked a catamaran and snorkeling excursion to enjoy during our first Bahama experience. After a short bus ride to the catamaran dock, we boarded the vessel and sailed across the clear blue water out to the snorkeling location. Last time, we also snorkeled during our cruise. We enjoyed the sunny catamaran ride to the boat we had last time. Catamarans are fun. You lie out on the top in the sun and you bounce along the waves. With snorkeling gear on, we jumped off the vessel and floated in the salt sea to view colorful fish below. The spot had little fish that edged close to the surface and swimmers. I veered away, even though I am sure they were harmless. After the tiring swim, we ate Latin food and some mango daiquiri.
For our Freeport excursion, we went snorkeling. We sailed out to our destination on a catamaran.
With our snorkel gear on, we jumped off the back of the boat to swim with the fish.
After snorkeling, we ate some Latin cuisine.
My chicken quesadillas were cheesy and delicious.
Day two in the Bahamas landed up in the Bahamas. We opted to find our own adventure. This meant some ups and downs along the way, but it ended up being my favorite day of the cruise. We passed up direct taxis for the No. 10 bus to the beach. After a decent walk, we found sand and sea. Next, Cole ventured for lunch and found up pizza and Coke. While not crazy adventurous, it was so tasty. We spent hours on the beach here just sunning and swimming.
Stay tuned for Disney World and Charleston, South Carolina. They don't off the same island paradise, but they offer a lot of fun and history.
On day two in the Bahamas, we enjoy the beach in Nassua.
Cole enjoys the sun, sand and water all afternoon.
Obviously a healthy exotic lunch :P
After pizza and soda, Cole lies down to read.
So much beach. This was definitely the best day of the cruise.
