Baker Beach Sand and Sunset
Posted by Brenna Malmberg
The view of the Golden Gate Bridge is beautiful from Baker Beach.
Last weekend, we drove up to San Francisco after church to visit Baker Beach. (Yes, I realize how amazing it is that we can head up to San Francisco after evening church.) I've really been wanting to go to the beach since we arrived in June. Unfortunately because of the bar and then work, we hadn't made it there yet. Things finally aligned and we journeyed north to take in the sights. I've seen a ton of photos from Baker Beach, and couldn't wait to snap my own of the Gold Gate Bridge from that side. We had seen it from the northern side both at night and during the day, but not from the southern side.
We arrived before sunset as people were clearing out. This definitely helped us snag a parking spot. During this sunny weekend, I am guessing this place was more packed than the below photos show it at this time of night. Once parked, we walked down to the sand and wandered down the shore toward the bridge. Lots of families and couples relaxed on the beach, and the farther we walked toward the bridge, more less-than-skimpy-clothed people appeared. So, you have that heads up in case you visit. (I had already read that, so we knew ahead of time. No worries.)
If you are in the Bay Area, this beach is definitely worth the visit. Now to enjoy some photos. :)
Brave people and a puppy take on the freezing Pacific waves.
Pretty sure I need one of these.
Oh to be a kid and okay with romping in cold water.
Even on a Sunday evening, the beach is filled with people.
We really lucked out that the Bay didn't have any fog tonight.
Gulls fly overhead.
:) We finally made it to the beach!
I kept seeing pictures from this beach, and I knew we needed to visit it.
Cole climbs up on the rocks to stand with the Gold Gate Bridge.
The rocks down by the water are covered with these guys.
Cole enjoys the cold sand between his toes.
Made it there just in time to watch the sunset.
