Beachin' for Second Anniversary

Us at Ocean City

A little wind blown during our second anniversary celebration.

On June 11, we celebrated our two-year anniversary. Yay! To celebrate, we took Monday off from work and headed over to Ocean City, Md. For those of you looking to see where that is, here is a map. (This should help show you where it is, Mom.)

Our hotel sat not too far from the beach, and the weather was ideal Sunday when we arrived. So, we set off to the beach right away. It was about 75 degrees, sunny and no wind. Ahh ... the beach. Because I was enjoy the beach, camera didn't make the trip, so you just have to take my word for it. The water, while pretty, created goosebumps, so I mostly stayed out of it. Cole did a bit more swimming around. I just couldn't handle the coldness.

As the sun set, we made our way to food on the boardwalk, followed by putt-putt golf. First off, if you love putt-putt like Cole, Ocean City is your dreamland. So much putt-putt. Every few blocks, there was another course. So of course we played some putt-putt.

We played the pirate course. Supposedly the more difficult of the two offered at Embers Island. After 18 holes, I came in only one stroke behind the putt-putt master, but really in the end I truly won. I sunk the last hole, making the buzzer go off. Winner, winner! I get a free round of golf! So tomorrow, there would be more putt-putt to be had.

The next day, we got up, checked out and headed back to the beach. The weather was less ideal because a tropical storm was rolling up the East Coast. The sun still shined, but the wind flipped sand in my eyes as I tried to read my Nat Geo. Besides reading, Cole did a bit of swimming, and we built some sand creations. Cole made a walled-in, fort city, and I made a tourist-attraction pyramid for the people of his city to visit.

After the beach, we ate, played our putt-putt golf (Cole won), and headed to the boardwalk. Luckily, the boardwalk had fewer tourists and seniors. Apparently over here on te East Coast, they really celebrate finishing high school by celebrating for a week. The night before, the boardwalk was lined with scantily dressed teens who were probably drinking too much. So anyways, just brace yourself if you go to Ocean City during senior week.

Because I was no longer going to soak in the sun, my camera could now make an appearance. As you will see in my pictures below, it was starting to look stormy. But it was still a great time. At the end, we got rained out and headed home. But still, rain or no rain, we got to celebrate our anniversary at the beach, so we were pleased.

Kites Ocean City

Kites blowing in the tropical storm breeze."

Pier Ocean City

No much happening on this stormy day."

Birds Ocean City

Birds arguing on the beach."

Shells Ocean City

Shell bits on the seashore."

Lifeguard Ocean City

Not a lifeguard's dream. That orange getup isn't too great either.

Construction Ocean City

While we were there, they were setting up half-pipes and other skateboard/bike activity equipment for the Dew Tour June 20-23.

Cole Ocean City

Cole chases the poor seagulls.

Boardwalk Ocean City

The boardwalk had games, food and a Ripley's Believe It or Not! (The shark head belongs to that attraction.) We enjoyed our cool treats and street performers on Sunday afternoon.

Happy second anniversary to us! And, thanks for stopping by.
