A heart full of doodles for my Mom on her birthday!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Yep, it's my Mom's big day. She's off driving around the Kansas countryside working, but when she gets home, she should find a doodled-filled heart card from her daughter. The other part of her present quickly arrived via Amazon yesterday: a JT CD. Yep, that's my Mom. :P

I got my doodle-filled heart idea from my "Craft-a-Doodle" book. My brother bought me this magical book for Christmas. If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably seen my colorful blobs or thoughtful owl. I started with easier doodles, and am slowly working my way to more complicated ones, such as this doodle-filled heart. I gave this one a go for two reasons: Mom loves hearts and Mom saw this at Christmas and requested it.

I used my doodle book to help me craft this birthday card.

I started all my doodling in pencil. To be honest, I mostly copied ideas from the book. I mean, after all that's what it is there for. But, by the end, I was piecing my own stuff together. The whole heart fills in slowly with simple doodles, and the hardest part was messing all the different blips together. As you'll notice, I have lot of little hearts and circles in there to cover white space.

I sketched the doodles in pencil first.

After I had the heart all filled in, I got out my new Pigma Micron pens. I needed some black pens that dried quickly. They did the trick. I am quite happy with the fine point pens. If you are looking for any, they are a winner.

Then I used Pigma Micron pens to ink the design.
