Fall Break: Virginia Beach and Kitty Hawk
Posted by Brenna Malmberg
Why not go to the beach in October?
Breaking away from school and work, we went to Virginia Beach and Kitty Hawk to celebrate Fall Break for Cole. How often cold we drive to the beach for fall break in college? Never. So this time, we did.
The waves splashed chilly water on our feet, but the sun shone and the bikes were great! We rented bikes for two hours and rode basically the whole two hours. I really think I need a bike. We rode up and down the boardwalk and along the streets parallell to the beach. SO FUN!
This was Cole's second bike. The first one had a pedal falling off issue.
Before all the biking happened, we checked out sand sculptures. I know, out of order, but I was really excited about the bikes. Turns out the North American Sandsculpting Tournament happens on Virginia Beach each year in the late summer. Check out all my sandy pictures.
Our favorite and the winner.
After the beach day, we played some putt-putt golf. In the end we tied, but if we went by who had the most hole-in-ones, I won!
First hole-in-one. I went on to get another. Sadly, I also had a hole where I had to use a net to fish out my ball.
Don't let that face fool you, he's excited. It's putt-putt.
The next day, we drove down to Kitty Hawk, N.C., to see where the Wright brothers first flew.
Cole with the first plane replica.
Pretty cool to see where the first flights went.
I did some flying of my own.
All in all, it was a great weekend of relaxing at the beach and catching up on some history. Check out the rest of my Fall Break pictures to see more of the fun.
