Framed Calligraphy and More Framed Calligraphy

Great words from Dr. Seuss for someone who teaches little people.
This Christmas, I used my new hobby, calligraphy, to make art worth framing. Because this hobby of mine is only about a year old, it takes me a while to generate final images that worth framing.
First, I made a list of all the works of art I would need to make. I did this in September — like I said, this whole thing took me a while. Then, I started searching for quotes that fit each person. I would browse Pinterest or just general online searches. In some cases, I pulled from scripture that I had recently been studying. Cole also jumped in on this process. Together we weeded out super long phrases and zeroed in on one or two.
Creativity came next. I would look at the words and draw little doodles of what I could do with those words. Next I penciled these onto thicker paper for inking. Once inked, I erased all those draft lines and cut the paper to frame size. Then, I looked at each one in the frame to make sure I loved the final version. *Disclaimer: I misspelled words and had to do the whole process over again. Mental note: Always triple-check the draft version for spelling errors.
I did all of this while juggling work and other projects, such as and Christmas cards. Because of this, I am really glad I started early. Now a month from gift-giving, I can look at these and remember the smiles they brought to faces.
And now I share the finished works with you. I had a lot of fun working on these and they gave me a lot of practice, which I need. If you are ever looking for a custom piece of calligraphy to frame, send me an email.
