Green Speak Monday: San Francisco Method
Posted by Brenna Malmberg
Lemon mint Method soap keeps our hands dirt free in the bathroom.
Wandering the mind-numbing aisles of Bed Bath & Beyond, I browsed the hand soap shelves. We had just moved into our Cville apartment, and we needed soap. Soap to sit on the bathroom counter, and for us super grown up adults, it must include a foaming pump. I branch away from the usual Dial and sniffed a few delightful options made by Method. I had heard of the company, from eco-friendly advertisements, but I had failed to see it in any store. I broke from my usual, same ol' same purchases and picked a fresh lemon mint.
Once home, I Googled Method to get to the bottom of my new soap. Founded in 2000, I was now using a scrubbing agent that fights dirty while using clean ingredients. Any company that describes it's products as "gentler than a thousand puppy licks" wins in my bathroom.
Besides hand soap, Method offers cleaner, dish soap, laundry soap, wood and steel polish, and dishwasher tabs. Each of these different products comes dressed in beautiful, bright packaging and smells of flowers and fruit. Now, I am going to have to investigate these other options. My hands like our foaming soap, so I am sure my sensitive hands, eyes, nose and skin would appreciate other Method items. If I give them a try, I'll let you know.
After even more digging, it turns out the company is based in San Francisco — my next summer home. Honestly, I am pretty excited to head to a green-loving city. And, during the next few Green Speak Mondays, I am going to investigate other green avenues in the Golden Gate City.

I'm not sure about "gentler than a thousand puppy licks," but it does seem to do the trick.
