How Does Our Garden Grow (Photo Blog)

Cole waters our new purple tulips.
After a few weeks, our plants our starting to get tall. Yes, I said plants. We have some additions since my last blog post. We have a tomato plant and four, stunning tulips, as shown above. But when I say our plants are starting to get tall, I mean too tall.
After a couple weeks, we have tall radishes growing on our patio.
Because the sun only bathes them for a small part of the morning, they stretch their little, growing leaves as high as they can, trying to get all of their energy. Our tomato receives the most light because he, Lil' Red, needs it. We will see how our radishes produce here shortly.
If we expand our garden, we will move toward shade happy plants such as lettuce and herbs. Even though we had spinach, it didn't sprout up, despite its ability to grow in shady areas. If you are interested in growing some shady plants, Mother Earth News has a good list of shade=tolerant vegetables.
Our tomato, Lil' Red, soaks in the most sun during the morning.
Cole thins the radishes to make room for their produce that will come soon. We had great luck with our radish seeds, not so much with our spinach.
