In honor of Earth Day, Lowe’s is giving away 1 million trees across the country at its store. So on Saturday, April 23, hurry to Lowe’s so you can get a free tree!
After you pick up your tree, you can go home and register it.

On April 22, every year for the last 41 years, we have celebrated Earth Day. For me today, it consisted of writing blogs about Earth Day at Mother Earth News Magazine and tweeting about via @MotherEarthNews and @brennamedia.
Was I hugging trees or saving the whales? Maybe not directly, and maybe very little at all, but awareness of environmental issues can help people learn about the planet they live on. If people know, they can take part in saving our planet. But if no one knows, how can anyone help? . . .

Words are put into different formats. The songs I listen to have words that smoothly flow together to convey strong emotions to sell records. The news articles I read take words directly to the point of telling a story. The magazines I flip through print clever play-on-words across the spreads. My Bible puts the words of God into a complete story. The advertisements hanging on the way try to entice me with their slogans. Facebook and Twitter rapidly spit out little bits of words for me to learn about my friends and family. And my words, well, they live on this page and in other publications I write for, expressing little bits of me. . . .
