Overblessified Thursday: First Hurricane

Posted by Brenna Malmberg

During the hurricane, we only incurred one tangled wind chime.

Outside the wind blew and the rain fell, but that was the extent of the storm for us here in Charlottesville. It appeared no worse than a regular Midwest thunderstorm. Who would of thought we would be experiencing a hurricane so soon after our East Coast move. We lost power for a while and I have a tangled ind chime, but no harm done. I can't say those along the coast and to the north had the same luck. Hurricane Sandy or Frankenstorm, caused billions of dollars in damage. I listened to countless stories on NPR about people without power and how they were getting by.

But even though people are finding ways to cope, the damage surrounds so many people. Here are some images from the New York Times on the damage.

Here are my images to document our day with the hurricane. Not too tragic. But, to help those in need, you can donate to the American Red Cross. That is the best way to help. They know how to get supplies and disperse them to the people that need them.

Rain made it on to the balcony.

Leaves stick to the car while we drive.

We sought refuge and power at the law school.

Rainy sidewalk takes us to the law school door.

Thomas Jefferson guards the construction in the courtyard.

Off we go.

Lots of people still out on the road.

Where do you go for supplies but Wal-Mart. Except, we were just getting little candles for our pumpkins. Important business.
