Overblessified Thursday: Help Stamp Out Hunger

Family Circus cartoon joins the National Association of Letter Carriers to help Stamp Out Hunger.
This Saturday, May 11, you can join with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and Feeding America to help feed people in your community.
It's as easy as leaving cans and other nonperishable items right next to your mailbox. For us, this couldn't have come at a better time. We move on Saturday, so I can bag up a few of the extra items we have in the cupboard, instead of toting them to D.C. with us.
We found out about this event, which is in its 21st year, because of a postcard taped near our row of mailboxes. Maybe you saw one, too. If so, I encourage you to donate something and contribute to the more than 70 million pounds of food collected that day.
It's so easy:
- Round up non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, rice or cereal
- Put them in a bag near the mailbox.
- Make sure you place the items there before the mail arrives.
- Your mail carrier will pick up the items.
- You just helped people in your community.
