Say hello to the USS Hornet. It's the one on the left.
Okay, it's not just a boat. It's an aircraft carrier. More specifically, this is the USS Hornet. We arrived here by happenstance. We had just left a warehouse sale, and while we were navigating our way out, we could turn right and head on our way, or go left to visit the USS Hornet museum. Which way did we go, obviously left, even though we still hadn'nt had lunch and it was 4 p.m. Military history wins when Cole is behind the wheel. . . .

Reunited!
After many years (were not even really sure how many), Hazy, Allie and I were reunited. The three of us, plus Cole, made Saturday into a biking adventure. We rented bikes and set out sights on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge.
At the rental place, Hazy thought a tandem bike looked like the best option. Obviously. No takers at first, but then I gave into the fun and signed my life away to a tandem bike with Hazy at the helm. Had either of us done this before? No. But, come on, we have done all kinds of other crazy things together. We could totally master a tandem bike. And we did. And to top it all off, it had tandemania emblazoned on it, which is apparently a real thing. . . .

We are already more than a week into 2017. How? It seems like yesterday that Cole and I hopped in Mithy on a Sunday afternoon. It was Labor Day weekend. We had three days with no work. We wanted to see some of this beautiful state that we call home. So we did.
We, of course, hit traffic on our way through San Francisco. Then we darted north a little farther to snag a Jimmy Johns lunch. We are quite classy; we know. Then, we meandered west toward the coast until we hit Highway 1. Cole zigged and zagged Mithy along the coastal road while I stared at the steep cliffs and rolling waves. . . .

Phew. We made it through Christmas. Through the flights, and the drives and the nights of little sleep. During the four-ish days we were back, we hit up both sides of the family for Christmas celebrations. In case you want to see what that looks like on a map, you can check it out here:

Janel and I get blow away by the wind on Alcatraz Island.
How is it already November?!?! That means Janel visited almost a two months ago. So much has changed for her in that time: new city, new job, new home (!). I'm so glad you got to come out and have a little vacay before all the change started, Janel. But I can't believe the fun has come and gone.
During her visit, we toured Alcatraz Island, saw the tourist sites in San Francisco, rode a cable car, saw the Golden Gate Bridge, hit up Re:Make by Brit + Co, went to a beach bonfire, and visited three wineries in Napa. We were busy! . . .
