Psalm 23 Calligraphy
Posted by Brenna Malmberg
Pretty flowering tree blooms near our apartment.
Back in Sunday school, my teacher, Staci, challenged our little class to scripture memory. My young brain had recited a verse or two, but this time, Maloree and I were assigned all of Psalm 23. And while scripture memory isn't about the prize, we were excited that all six verses got us a sleepover, pizza and Dr. Pepper.
I was the slower memorized, but eventually I got it down. To this day, those verses stick with me.
I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
During the last couple weeks, I used that passage for calligraphy practice. Then, I wandered the area, taking photos and enjoying Charlottesville's spring. My pencil notebook practice helped me develop and remember the different letters from my fake calligraphy font.
Thanks for checking out my photos and calligraphy. Oh, and enjoy spring!
