Sports Update: Fantasy Basketball and NCAA Gymnastics

I may have scored the most points in the playoffs, but when you are in the consolation bracket, it doesn't matter. Sad day.

I am not going to spend much time on the 2014-2015 Fantasy Basketball conclusion because, well, it's disheartening. My team swung up and down all season thanks to injuries and inexperience. But, in the end, we put up big numbers. Number so big in fact that we blew everyone out of game during the last round of the playoffs. Sadly, I had already dropped into the consolation bracket by that point, so I was only completely for third. Another year, another third place accomplishment. That seems to be my place. Maybe next year?!? Anyways, we did have a new winner this year. Cole, not Jay, too home first. So, go, Cole!

Now on to NCAA Gymnastics Championships. These took place this past weekend in Texas, which ironically doesn't even have a Division I team. Regardless, great gymnastics happened … and especially for the Gators. That's right, the Florida Gators took home the trophy for the third* straight year. Here's how the bracket competition shook out:

NCAA Women's Gymnastics Bracket
Name Total Points Bracket Challenge Place
Cole 320 1st
Brenna 180 2nd
Jay 160 3rd

There you have it. Cole wins again. 2015 must be his year. I guess this also means Cole gets some free calligraphy, but … he may have already cashed in on that when I addressed his graduation announcements. :P

In case you didn't catch the online gymnastics streams, (ha, who am I kidding, you didn't watch them) Florida won the team title. Kytra Hunter (Florida) and Samantha Peszek (UCLA) won the all-around. Elizabeth Price (Stanford) won vault. Georgia Dabritz (Utah) won bars and had two perfect 10s during the weekend. Peszek also won beam, and Hunter won floor.

While NCAA scoring can be a little wonky, those winners are all pretty great. I'm okay with the results. But, now because that is over, gymnastics is kind of over for a while. Sadly. Youtube always has some great finds though, so when you need some gymnastics, you can find it there, speaking of Youtube videos …

Cole

My year indeed. Maybe you just needed a little more fantasy basketball seasoning before your year comes.
