This Day in History: February 19

Posted by Brenna Malmberg

Many years ago, my mom was born. How old is she you ask? 46 to be exact. I am sure you wanted me to share that with the world, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mom, regardless.

In case you were wondering, she wasn't the only thing that happened on this earth on this day in history. In 1847, 45 of the original 89 members of the Donner party were rescued in California. Alcoholic beverages of all varieties were first prohibited in Kansas in 1881. Thomas Edison got a patent for the phonograph in 1878. And just two year ago, Tiger Woods admitted to infidelity and was off to get therapy for it.

Those are all interesting tidbits, but none changed my life as much as my mom. So again, Happy Birthday, and thanks for being the best thing to come from February 19.
