Trackville: Cal, Michigan and UVA
Posted by Brenna Malmberg
UVA track & field hosts Cal and Michigan in town April 5.
A sunny spring day made for a nice day at the Cal-Michigan-UVA track meet. We enjoyed the relaxed, free event with a pretty small crowd. In the end, UVA pulled out second on both the men's and women's side.
Cole and I both participated in track, him much more than me. My career lasted one season in eighth grade as a high jumper, long jumper and 4 X 200 relay. That's really all the track I needed in my life. But now, thanks for Cole's catching abilities and the nice Michigan lady behind us, I own a UVA track shirt. (Cole jumped, tipped it and lost it behind us. The Michigan mom said her daughter wouldn't approve, so we won!) Now I can wear it and be just like a track star. Okay, not really, but maybe it will give me additional motivation when I work out.
He as a spirited jumper.
While high- and far-flying, he scratched a lot.
This Cal jumper flew the highest.
A UVA long jumper prepares.
We saw him later up in the stands.
Jumping over hurdles and pools, this guy ran to the win during the steeplechase.
The spring weather was nice, but we still had to go home and get jackets.
Boom. Let's run a fast 100.
Run fast they did.
UVA wins the 400. They swept the top, both men's and women's in the 400 and 200.
This poor guy needed a friend to help him roll the sign.
Toe touch!
Time to triple jump.
We were right in front of them, so we had a nice view.
Long, jumping strides.
Impressive jump.
Trackville T-shirt Cole caught. Lucky for me, it's my size.
