Worldly Wednesday: Gold Winning Performances
Posted by Brenna Malmberg
It's not the World Championships, but the Pan American Games happening right now in Guadalajara, Mexico, is the biggest international competition after the Summer Olympics. The American women already won the World Championship title, and Jordan Wieber followed it by a gold all-around medal. In the individuals at Worlds, McKayla Maroney took the gold on vault.
The US women didn't disappoint at the Pan American Games either. The team edged out Canada and Mexico to win the gold in the team competition. Then, today, Bridgette Caquatto won the all-around gold, becoming the seventh American woman in a row to win. Brandie Jay, also from America, placed sixth in the competition.
Still to come this week are the event finals. Jessie DeZiel will compete on floor. Jay will compete on vault, and Caquatto and Shawn Johnson will compete on bars.
Good luck girls!
