Yosemite Falls Hike

Yosemite National Park here we come.
Yosemite Falls bursts from the top thanks for spring mountain snowmelt.
To celebrate our long weekend, we drove over to Yosemite National Park to hike the sights. Cole mapped out a few waterfall options because spring snowmelt from the mountains makes the falls gush. We decided to be adventurous and hike to the top of Yosemite Falls — that's 7.2 miles round trip, gaining 2,700 feet of elevation.
With each rocky step, my legs burned. I wasn't sure if I would make it, but I wasn't about to give up and make it "almost to the top" after all the pain to get there. We hustled up, took in the view and then scurried down before the sun finally set. Even with our efforts, the sunset's glow and moonlight lit our path. And wouldn't you guess, clumsy me managed to trip and fall on the third-to-last switchback. Better there than the top, I suppose.
Follow our journey through photos.
Memorial Day weekend leads to lots of traffic and time in the car.
Phew, here we go. It's a 3.5-mile hike to the top.
On the trail, we can see our final destination.
Cole takes a break on the way up.
Across the way, Half Dome shines in the sun.
Quite a view form the top.
Meet my tree friend who grows at the top.
Didn't think we would make it, but we did!
This water swirls and twirls and then splashes off the edge.
To get to the overlook, we walk across this rocky staircase that only has a little railing.
Cole walks around to take in the view.
Yikes. We are a long way up.
Taking a much needed break.
Cole rests against the rocky edge.
That's over the edge. Rushing waterfall to the streams below.
Whoa. Giant pinecone.
Well, now we have another 3.2 miles down to the bottom.
We hiked there!!
Thankfully, I am resting on this Memorial Day. My legs need a break.
