Welcome to Point Lobos State Reserve. It's beautiful.
Wildflowers lined a majority of our 6-mile hike.
The whole hike, we walked along the shoreline, finding great landmasses like this lizard like rock formation.
Right in the middle, a sea lion naps in the sun. We stumbled upon this wildlife delight, and watched them splash in the water and beach themselves on the sand.
Rocks and water for miles and miles on this easy hike — definitely all pluses in my book.
The wildflower cliffs dip right into the blue waves.
Personally, I enjoy sun-shining, wave lapping hikes to densely wooded, steep ones (just saying).
From start to finish, we wandered the entire length of the trail in about four hours.
Lots of plant life played tricks on the eyes while searching for sea lions.
But, no worries, we saw sea lions, too — a whole island of them. The lower section was roped off, but we could still hear them barking from afar.
Any span on the trail led to these views.
Someone likes to explore.
The ocean is a big, big place.
A little inlet leads to a quite beach, which was sadly closed off.
I did venture onto the rocks a ways, but not this far. A few big splashes left Cole seeking the highest ground available.
He narrowly escaped this big whoosh.
He didn't fair as well on the next one.
A family skips rocks on the calmer, inland water.
Birds, birds, birds. They flocked to this island.
Ahhh. A little beach time, and a few seconds of toes in the ice-cold water. Point Lobos is a must if in the Monterey, California, area.
