On Sept. 26, Michelle flies into Washington, D.C., and first things first, we toured the monuments by night.

In the morning, we ride the metro across town to the Capitol area, stopping to see the facade of the Supreme Court Building.

Back in Charlottesville, we zip up the hill to Carter Mountain Orchard. We took in a great view and picked some bags of apples for an apple crisp and snacks.

On Monday, Michelle and I stopped by to see Jefferson, well really his house — Monticello.

During her last full day, we take Michelle for a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway. The fog obscured most of the view, but this little piece of sunlight area illuminated a scene of rolling mountains.
