On May 11, Cole and I stop at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
Wandering off the paved trail, Cole stands on the ledge.
Oh wait ... he doesn't just stand, he sits down.
The Grand Canyon spreads 277 miles through Arizona.
While Cole stretches his arms (as seen in the photo and the previous), I photographed the scene from afar.
After taking in the view, we decided to take a 1.5 mile hike down into the canyon.
Our final destination was Cedar Ridge, stopping at Ooh Aah Point on the way down. Mules also can take tourists down to the bottom, but we didn't see them traveling that day.
Cole says hi from the edge.
Handstands at high points.
The layers of rock are visible along our hiking trail.
The day started chilly, but by the time I was hiking down and then up, I was okay with wearing shorts.
Luckily for us, summer vacations weren't in full swing, so it was a calm trail.
Down in the bottom, we could see even more formations.
Then, on May 12, Cole and I traveled up and down into the Hoover Dam. The dam opened in 1936
Annually, Hoover Dam generates 4.2 billion kWh, much of which powers Southern California.
