First Lacrosse Game

Posted by Brenna Malmberg

My first lacrosse game.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, Cole and I attended our first lacrosse game. Before going, I honestly knew zero about the sport. Now after watching a game, I am still not sure I know anything. It was a mix of football, soccer and basketball from my point of view.

Apparently, UVA is pretty good at lacrosse. So I suppose if I am going to go, it might as well be to see a good team. Last night they played Virginia Military Institute. I think it is fair to say, they aren't super at lacrosse. The final score was 18-4, UVA winning.

Luckily, we got in on the action right at the beginning of the season. There are plenty more days, hopefully warmer days, ahead to watch and learn lacrosse. I will keep you updated on what I learn. Feel free to educate me if you know something about lacrosse. For now though, you can enjoy some photos.

This is how they start. It's sort of like wrestling.

Save.

Lots and lots of smash ups.

He is excited about his first game.

I was frozen and not too impressed.

The net deals. (Yeah, I obviously didn't learn much.)

The non-UVA team goal.

Cole thinks football refs might go here to die.

While they are running around, they smack each other with their sticks. It looks like it hurts a lot. Lacrosse isn't for me.

The cold evening left the stands pretty bleak.

A little onlooker. Pretty sure he hopes to be out there someday. Cute.
